    Inquisitive smiles emerged and hands shot up to ask an Air Force space operations officer about his work managing the Global Positioning System (GPS) satellites, which at this moment were ensuring those youth had accurate directions to get to the event and the appropriate geofence around their latest social media story.  Middle school students engaged with multiple areas of Air Force operations through Georgia 4-H’s Mission: Make It, an event for middle school students to follow the engineering design process and replicate real life experiences at Rock Eagle 4-H Center recently.

    Out with the old, in with the new: Aircrew gets new anti-smoke goggles

    For more than 20 years the ASGs have been a basic four part system, until now. With innovation, the new ASGs are now a three-part system. The suspension frame itself is still made the same with the nape pad attached, while the goggles and oxygen mask portion have been upgraded.

    Lt. Col. Stephen Miracle, 10th Flight Test Squadron B-52 flight commander, recently took part in a mission to fly a regenerated B-52 from Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, Arizona, to Barksdale AFB, Louisiana. The feat was only the second time a Stratofortress returned to service from Davis-Monthan's "Boneyard."

    Reserve Citizen Airmen hunt hurricanes

    This specialized unit of Reserve Citizen Airmen is made up of a five-person crew consisting of a pilot, co-pilot, navigator, aerial reconnaissance weather officer, and loadmaster who is also the dropsonde operator.

    More than 100 Reserve Citizen Airmen from the 913th Airlift Group returned from deployment on May 19, 2019, from various bases in Southwest Asia in support of Operations Freedom’s Sentinel and NATO’s Resolute Support. The deployed group consisted of the 327th Airlift Squadron, 913th Maintenance Squadron, and is augmented by members of the 403rd Wing and active-duty personnel from the 19th Airlift Wing.
