Youngstown Annual Awards Banquet recognizes outstanding Airmen

The 910th Airlift Wing held its Annual Awards Banquet at the Community Activity Center here, April 7. During the banquet, the wing presented 26 awards to deserving Reserve Citizen Airmen.

The following individuals received “Of the Year” awards during the event’s marquee presentation:

  • Staff Sgt. Marquita Little, 910th Logistics Readiness Squadron, Airman of the Year
  • Staff Sgt. Chris Hughes, 910th Operations Support Squadron, Non-Commissioned Officer of the Year
  • Senior Master Sgt. Ed Shaffer, 910th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron, Senior Non-Commissioned Officer of the Year
  • Master Sgt. Jessica Syverson, 910th Operations Support Squadron, First Sergeant of the Year
  • 2nd Lt. Keith Maloney, 76th Aerial Port Squadron, Company Grade Officer of the Year

Other Airmen and civilians from the 910th AW received unit-level awards.

 

Other event highlights included a Prisoner Of War/Missing In Action ceremony performed by five YARS first sergeants, dinner catered by the CAC and a presentation by guest speaker Lt. Gen. (retired) John L. Hudson, director of the National Museum of the Air Force at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio.

 

Chief Master Sgt. Robert Potts, the 910th AW command chief, brought the night to a close by commending the Reserve Citizen Airmen at YARS and extended his thanks to everyone who made the night possible for them.

“We see excellence every single day we go out there, and this is just a small representation of that greatness,” said Potts. “We want to continue to recognize our outstanding performers with nights like this.”

Potts also took the time to recognize several outstanding 910th Reserve Citizen Airmen currently or recently deployed overseas.
