SCOTT AIR FORCE BASE, Ill. -- The commander of the 932nd Airlift Wing's Operations Group, Col. Michael Maloney, stopped by to visit the Mascoutah High School JROTC unit January 16, 2020. This is a cadet corp the Air Force Reserve wing adopted several years ago.
Col. Maloney was the guest speaker at the JROTC commander's call held right after a change of command ceremony as a guests of JROTC instructor, Lt. Col. David Berthe, second from right at table. Maloney spoke on leadership and the students asked questions about flying and military service.
ROTC stands for Junior Reserve Officer’s Training Corps. It is a military-regulated program designed to offer high school students leadership experiences and motivate them to become better American citizens. JROTC combines classroom instruction with service to school and community, extracurricular and social activities and the chance to take on leadership roles.
