94th AW commander retires during UTA

DOBBINS AIR RESERVE BASE, Ga. --  Col. Brett Clark, 94th Airlift Wing commander, bid a final farewell to more than 1,000 94th Airlift Wing and Dobbins Air Reserve Base community members during his retirement ceremony here July 11.

Clark served an illustrious career of military service spanning more than three decades; flying more than 4,000 hours in various C-130 Hercules models and supporting combat deployments from Operation Desert Shield/Storm to Operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom.

Brig. Gen. (Ret.) Richard Severson presided over the ceremony, sharing stories from Clark’s career, including how Clark received the call sign “Buzz” during a tour where he was the only one who didn’t get sick.

“Clark has worked tirelessly to make this installation truly ‘second to none,’” Severson said regarding Clark’s tour at Dobbins. “His legacy will be that of a true warrior and visionary leader.”

After the retired general’s fond recognition of Clark’s career, Clark was presented with his certificate of retirement and other accolades, including the ceremonial retirement flag.

Once the flag was presented, Clark addressed attendees and honored his family, friends and community members who have had a significant impact on his career and time at Dobbins.

“You all have executed the mission here brilliantly, I couldn’t be more appreciative,” Clark said.

He then thanked 94 AW unit commanders and men and women of the 94 AW for their contributions to the wing’s mission.
