Courage under fire
Tech. Sgt. Ed Wilkerson 53rd Aerial Port Squadron, Pope Air Force Base N.C., was first on the scene to an aircraft crash while deployed in Afghanistan. Sergeant Wilkerson witnessed the pilot and navigator eject from a RAF GR4 Tornado and without regard to his well being, assisted in moving the crew to saftey.
