Final Flight
A formation of 440th Airlift Wing Airmen saw the unit's final C-130 Hercules aircraft taxi and depart from Pope Army Airfield, N.C., June 29, 2016, signaling a major step in the unit's activation process. "This is the last flight for the 440th," said Col. Karl Schmitkons, the 440th Airlift Wing commander. "This airplane, when it leaves here, is the end of the legacy for the 440th here at Pope.” (U.S. Air Force photo by Maj. Lisa Ray)
