Hurricane Hunters fly Idalia
Maj. Peyton Eustis and Capt. John Bolton, 53rd Weather Reconnaissance Squadron pilots, fly the aircraft during Hurricane Idalia. The Air Force Reserve Hurricane Hunters, continued to collect data during a mission today into Hurricane Idalia as it made landfall in Florida. The Hurricane Hunters gather weather data and send that information back to the National Hurricane Center to be used for improvement in updating the forecast models of storm tracks.
