    Reserve unit kicks up flying training scenarios

    The 913th Airlift Group conducted full-spectrum readiness flying sorties, involving scenarios that required various combat airlift capabilities that could be used in current and future military responses, Oct. 5-6, 2019, at Little Rock Air Force Base, Arkansas. The robust and detailed training scenario allowed aircrew and air transportation specialists to operate in austere conditions, simulating enemies with an array of capabilities. Due to evolving combatant command requirements, the Air Force Reserves has increased focus on units operating effectively in degraded environments.

    The reemergence of long-term strategic and great-power competition necessitates that the Air Force Reserve grow its capabilities to meet the demands of the future operating environment while integrating with AETC and the Air National Guard.

    Middle schoolers set sights on the moon with help from UGA, Air Force Reserve

    Inquisitive smiles emerged and hands shot up to ask an Air Force space operations officer about his work managing the Global Positioning System (GPS) satellites, which at this moment were ensuring those youth had accurate directions to get to the event and the appropriate geofence around their latest social media story.  Middle school students engaged with multiple areas of Air Force operations through Georgia 4-H’s Mission: Make It, an event for middle school students to follow the engineering design process and replicate real life experiences at Rock Eagle 4-H Center recently.

    Out with the old, in with the new: Aircrew gets new anti-smoke goggles

    For more than 20 years the ASGs have been a basic four part system, until now. With innovation, the new ASGs are now a three-part system. The suspension frame itself is still made the same with the nape pad attached, while the goggles and oxygen mask portion have been upgraded.
